The Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam (DSE Assam) released the official notification and application window for the Assam NMMS for the 2025–26 academic session.This scholarship scheme is part of the centrally sponsored NMMS, administered by the Ministry of Education and implemented by SCERT Assam. A total of 2,411 scholarships will be awarded in Assam this year.

NMMS Assam Eligibility Criteria
- Enrolled in Class VIII at a Government, Government‑aided, or local body school.
- Must secure at least 55% marks in Class VII (relaxed by 5% for SC/ST students)
- Annual family income must not exceed ₹ 3,50,000
NMMS Assam Exam Structure & Selection
- The NMMS exam comprises two papers:
- Mental Ability Test (MAT): 90 questions
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): 90 questions (subjects based on Classes VII–VIII syllabus)
- Each paper duration: 90 minutes (extra time for disabled students allowed)
- Minimum qualifying score: 40% each in MAT and SAT (32% for SC/ST)
- Selection is merit-based via state-level exam; final result declared jointly by DSE/SCERT Assam on official portals (Bidyarthi and madhyamik.assam.gov.in)
NMMS Assam Scholarship Benefits & Renewal
- Successful candidates receive ₹ 12,000/year (₹ 1,000 per month) from Class IX through XII, subject to meeting continuation criteria
- Secure 55% in Classes IX and XI, and 60% in Class X (5% relaxation for SC/ST)
